Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in Canadian high-rise construction to join our Client's team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing accurate cost estimates, managing tendering processes, and ensuring project profitability. This individual must have substantial experience as an estimator in Canada , particularly in high-rise residential and commercial projects .
As a Senior Estimator, you will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to prepare detailed cost estimates, analyze project specifications, and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Estimation Process: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for high-rise residential and commercial construction projects, including quantity takeoffs, pricing, and analysis.
- High-Rise Project Expertise: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of high-rise construction methodologies, local building codes, and industry standards in Canada.
- Pre-construction Planning: Work with design and project teams to provide cost analysis during the planning stages, ensuring budgets align with project goals.
- Tendering and Bidding: Manage the preparation of tender packages, issue bid requests, and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather pricing.
- Cost Management: Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring accurate forecasting and cost control measures are in place.
- Risk Analysis: Conduct risk assessments related to cost estimation, procurement, and construction schedules, providing recommendations to mitigate potential risks.
- Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality or design integrity.
- Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with clients, contractors, architects, engineers, and internal teams to ensure all project specifications and requirements are met.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on cost variances, budget forecasts, and overall project cost tracking.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in construction estimation, with at least 5 years specifically in Canadian high-rise projects .
- Education: Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Canadian Experience: Proven experience working as an estimator in Canada , with knowledge of regional market conditions, construction standards, and local regulations.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in estimation software (such as Sage, Procore, or similar) and Excel. Knowledge of BIM software is an asset.
- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex project specifications, drawings, and documents to produce accurate and comprehensive estimates.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in cost estimation, forecasting, and budgeting with a commitment to accuracy.
- Problem Solving: Strong ability to anticipate potential cost-related challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Leadership: Experience leading and mentoring junior estimators is a plus.
