Personal Injury Law Clerk – Hamilton, Ontario
Our reputable personal injury firm in Hamilton is searching for a highly skilled and enthusiastic law clerk or paralegal to join our passionate and dedicated close-knit team.
What You'll Be Doing:
Client Advocacy: Be the bridge between clients and their path to recovery. Attend potential new client meetings with the responsible lawyer to meet the clients you'll be working for. You’ll manage accident benefits (AB) claims, liaise with insurers, doctors, and employers, and handle tort claims by preparing the file for examinations for discovery, mediations, and trials.
Comprehensive Case Management: Oversee both Accident Benefits and Tort files. For AB files, you’ll help create rehabilitation teams for clients and ensure service providers are fulfilling their duties. For tort cases, you will assist in gathering evidence, coordinating with experts, and preparing court documents. You’ll keep clients updated on the status of their cases.
Legal Documentation: Draft LAT applications, case conference briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents. You’ll review accident benefit files, medical records, and any available evidence to build strong AB and tort cases.
Protection of Client Rights: Track denials, limitation dates, and court deadlines to safeguard your clients’ interests. You’ll take a proactive approach to ensure all timelines are respected in both AB and tort matters.
Effective Communication: Engage in professional correspondence with accident benefit adjusters, opposing counsel, clients, and other stakeholders. You’ll advocate for clients with insurers, handling delays and disputes to ensure they receive what they are entitled to.
