Nature of Work
This position entails the responsibility of assisting the School Principal with the organization and implementation of social-emotional, physical and technological education; the instructional, educational and sports/extracurricular activities in the administrative matters of the school.
This position includes all or part of the following responsibilities and duties:
- Participate in implementation and evaluation of the educational project;
- Support the school team in the tracking and management of student behavior and enforcement of our school discipline policy including our antibullying action plan;
- Coordinate, supervise and take part in the carrying out of activities, programs or services in different sectors of the school including human, material or financial resources for daycare, noon-hour services; and extra-curricular activities
- Develop, implement, adapt, and monitor, in cooperation with the school team, Special Education programs and procedures that are compatible with the School Board’s policy, related provincial regulations as well as School Directives and/or practices.
- Coordinate and participate in the IEP process, including communication with parents and school team members involved in the process, as required.
- Coordinate and optimize the implementation of the Response to Intervention model and Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
- Coordinate services provided to First Nations and Indigenous students
- Assist, as needed, teachers, professionals and support staff who provide services to students with special needs. Report and inform the School Principal on the progress of special need students and any related issues as deemed necessary.
- Coordinate and supervise ordering and organization of professional development to facilitate the use of computer technologies;
- Support the team and assist in student supervision during bussing, as deemed necessary
- Prepare communications for the school community regarding activities, programs and projects;
- Collaborate with and support the work of the members of the school foundation;
- Assume any other responsibility compatible with these functions that may be assigned by the immediate superior;
- Replace the school principal if the latter is absent for a short period.
- A bachelor’s degree in education or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study certifying a minimum three-year university program or hold a senior executive or senior staff position excluding that of manager in a board.
- Holding a graduate-level degree (DESS / Master’s) is an asset
- A permanent teaching licence issued by the Minister along with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in oral and written English and French.
- Team player with proven communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to interact professionally, objectively, and effectively with different stakeholders.
- Solid knowledge of Information Technology and the ability to support school’s initiatives.
- Sound planning, organization, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Autonomous, resilient along with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a calm demeanor.
