We are currently looking for a Senior Solicitor to join our Corporate Legal team in a Permanent position. Reporting to the Director Legal, you will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, interpreting, and reviewing contracts and legal agreements, including construction arrangements, supply of goods and services, and technology agreements.
Key elements of this role include:
Negotiating, drafting, interpreting, and reviewing contracts and legal agreements.
Provision of support and advice to business leaders engaged in third party negotiations.
Providing contract administration and claims management advice.
Ensuring the protection of the organization’s interests are in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environment management system processes and initiatives.
These skills will make you successful:
Must possess a Law Degree obtained by a recognized university.
A minimum of 5 years related experience.
Have extensive experience in preparing and negotiating commercial agreements.
Experience in privacy law would be considered an asset.
Experience working for a regulated entity would be considered an asset.
Must be a member of good standing of a provincial law society and be eligible for admission to the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society.
You will have the ability to communicate in an effective and non-technical manner, have exceptional organizational skills and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
You are a proactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills and have a keen interest in becoming involved in the Company’s business strategy.
Occasional travel will be required for this role.
