Description
We are hiring an Operations Manager to oversee activities in a value stream, managing people and products, controlling costs, meeting quality goals, and ensuring company policies are followed!
*This role will be located either at our Kentwood West Plant - 4360 52nd St SE, Kentwood, MI 49512 OR Wood Plant - 4160 68th Street SE, Caledonia, MI 49316*
What You Will Be Doing:
Oversee all activities within a value stream(s) and integrates people and equipment to meet production schedules. Supervises and effectively manages people and product(s) within a division while leveraging policies, procedures, and company strategies to meet production commitments. Responsible for employee performance including having a significant influence on employment decisions. Collaborates with the Superintendent to control costs through the use of budgets and cost reduction programs; to ensure the value stream(s) meets, or exceeds, corporate goals and expectations; and to ensure all employees are properly trained for efficiency and safety. Works to meet quality goals set by corporate and meet customer expectations. Responsible to ensure company policies are being followed and the SEPS (Steelcase Employee Performance System) process is being followed and supported with appropriate documentation
Your Future Team:
You will be part of large operations network and supervise day-to-day activities of around 20 - 35 employees within a department/division.
Who You Are:
Required Skills and Competencies
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- Requires proven managerial leadership and problem-solving skills.
Must have good knowledge of the manufacturing process including engineering methods, the quality system, manufacturing technology, capacity analysis, and safety requirements.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Must understand and be able to have a positive impact on standardized work, flow, pull, elimination of waste.
- Strong working knowledge of people management and resource management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Requires good verbal/written communication skills to deal effectively with employees, staff departments and vendors in items that occasionally are sensitive and confidential.
- Must be able to lead effective meetings.
- Must demonstrate good use of judgment, planning, organizing, delegation, analysis and follow-up.
- Financial acumen - understands budgeting, compensation systems, income statements and project justification.
- Must be willing and able to lead “special” projects and achieve successful project results.
- Must be effective in the administration of policies, procedures, laws and regulations to maintain both environmental and labor legal compliances.
- Must demonstrate initiative, tolerance for stress, adaptability and ability to impact.
- Demonstrates solid presentation skills.
- Proactive in building positive relationships among team members and other functions with which the team interacts.
- Mentors and coaches employee(s) where appropriate Knowledge / experience with mfg support areas.
