The Dental Hygienist is responsible for conducting oral examinations, performing dental cleanings, and carrying out various tasks related to dental health and disease prevention.
Dental Hygienist Responsibilities:
• Perform tooth polishing, scaling, and root planning, removing stains, plaque, and calculus from tooth surfaces.
• Provide general oral health education, including proper brushing, flossing, dental cleaning, and medication use.
• Expose and process dental radiographs using bite wings, periapical films, and related equipment; alert the dentist to any findings.
• Identify potential diseases and signs of tooth decay.
• Assist the dentist during restorative, surgical, and endodontic procedures.
• Create and maintain dental treatment charts and records, and manage appointment scheduling.
Dental Hygienist Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene school
• Michigan Dental Hygienist license
• Anesthesia Certification
• Strong patient assessment and management skills
• Ability to work with diverse patient populations
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
