The ideal candidate would have 5+ years of recent experience handling estate planning. Strong knowledge and skill in the practice area are imperative. The company has $6 billion in assets under management now and they are growing! Their HQ is located in Michigan, but the position is fully remote- MUST live in Michigan and be barred in Michigan!
Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth consultations with clients to assess their specific requirements.
Gather relevant financial and personal information to develop tailored estate plans.
- Estate Planning Document Preparation: Draft comprehensive estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
Review and update existing estate plans to ensure compliance with current laws and client objectives.
- Tax Planning: Analyze clients' financial situations to identify tax-efficient strategies for minimizing estate taxes and other related liabilities.
Work closely with tax professionals to optimize tax planning strategies.
- Charitable Planning: Assist clients in establishing charitable foundations and trusts to achieve philanthropic goals.
Advise on tax-effective charitable giving strategies.
- Business Succession Planning: Develop comprehensive succession plans for business owners, including buy-sell agreements and transfer of ownership.
- Client Education: Educate clients on estate planning concepts, tax implications, and legal requirements.
Conduct seminars and workshops, often in conjunction with financial advisors, to raise awareness of estate planning issues.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Stay current on relevant laws and regulations affecting estate planning.
Implement effective risk management procedures to protect the firm and clients.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Michigan Bar Association.
- 5+ years of experience in estate planning law
- Strong understanding of federal and state estate tax laws.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience working with high-net-worth clients.
- Proficiency in legal software and technology.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with financial advisors and other team members.
