Overview
We are seeking an experienced Land Acquisition Manager to drive one of our client's land acquisition efforts and secure rights of way to support the rapid expansion of our renewable energy projects. This role is instrumental in ensuring a steady pipeline of high-quality sites, enabling the client to meet campaign targets efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute land acquisition initiatives across designated regions, maintaining a swift pace and high-quality standards to meet project objectives.
- Manage and oversee interactions with external land agents and land acquisition firms, facilitating weekly updates to track progress and optimize workflows. Apply strategic pressure as needed to close deals and keep projects on target.
- Train land agents on the project goals and negotiation strategies, ensuring consistent messaging and approach across all acquisition efforts.
- Collaborate closely with the Director to allocate resources effectively, ensuring that campaign objectives are met within deadlines.
- Work directly with project developers to align site acquisitions with project schedules and requirements, ensuring quality and compatibility.
- Conduct and manage negotiations with key landowners to secure critical site agreements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time to meet with landowners and oversee acquisitions in the field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in land acquisition for large-scale projects, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role; experience in renewable energy is strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience with land leases, rights of way, and easements across various contractual arrangements.
- Proven ability to manage and develop a diverse team, including those with strong, complex personalities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with individuals from varied backgrounds.
- Resilient and persuasive approach, with a proactive and persistent attitude toward deal-making and negotiation.
- Adept at balancing both strategic oversight and hands-on involvement, adapting seamlessly between guiding and executing tasks.
- Highly driven with a sense of urgency to achieve objectives on time.
- Must be based in Illinois or be willing to relocate.
