Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and energetic person to fill our open position as Buyer. As a buyer, this individual will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, traveling to trade shows, meeting new potential vendors and directly negotiating with vendors on inventory opportunities.
- This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7am-4:00pm.
- This is a salary position with a commission structure based on profits
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate lasting relationships with vendors to grow vendor loyalty
- Work with vendors to better understand their business needs, goals, and how they sell their products
- Negotiate with vendors directly to purchase inventory
- Attend trade shows and coordinate opportunities to meet vendors face to face
Competencies:
- A passion for purchasing and company culture
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Proven ability to negotiate and purchase inventory
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Efficient in MS Excel and MS Word
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Requirements:
- 2 years’ experience in purchasing
- Ability to travel appx 65 days per year
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- May require prolonged sitting or standing
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds or more

Expected Outcomes
- To expand purchasing and profits by developing new vendor relationships and growing established vendor relationships that are under preforming
- Purchasing goals are exceeded/met while aggressively preserving margin
- Ensure the quality of database information for items in Fishbowl (ie. Item descriptions, restrictions, images, PO’s are accurate.
- Attend industry trade shows and develop relationships with vendors
- Attend key market conference twice a year
- Maintain working relationships with 5-10 customers
