Qualifications:
- Possess strong understanding of mechanical systems design and installation
- Skilled in reading and understanding drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer knowledge that includes Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with estimating programs
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle and manage a variety of tasks
Job Functions:
- Determine scope of work and contents of the project estimate
- Partner with subcontractors and vendors to obtain and calculate specific costs of labor, equipment, and material to prepare estimates
- Maintain positive relationships with engineers, architects, subcontractors, contractors, and vendors, suggesting adjustments as needed to the scope of projects
- Research previous cost data to prepare bids and assist in the development of guidelines for future estimates
- Analyze awarded and lost estimates to identify anomalies and opportunities for future improvement
Preferred Certificates/Licenses/Education:
- College degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, construction management, or building science preferred and/or 5-10 years of experience in the Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing (or related) industries. Additional trade school certification or internship experience is also beneficial.
