Position Title: Senior Office of Sponsor Research Specialist
Overview:
The Senior Office of Sponsor Research Specialist provides high-level support for research projects by offering guidance on grant and contract services to investigators and staff. This role aids investigators in preparing and submitting proposals, as well as negotiating contracts. Additionally, it supports senior leadership in developing initiatives and goals to enhance the institution's pre-award administration program and assists in resolving complex and non-routine issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Budget and Contract Negotiations:
- Lead negotiations for budgets and contracts.
Mentorship:
- Mentor staff on contract negotiation and legal review processes.
Proposal Logistics:
- Oversee and assist in the logistics of large-scale proposals, including final preparation, review, and submission to meet sponsor deadlines.
Initiatives Development:
- Collaborate with senior leadership and management to develop initiatives and goals.
Risk Assessments:
- Work with legal and management teams to perform risk assessments on new research opportunities.
Guidance to Staff:
- Provide guidance to investigators, coordinators, and administrative staff regarding research funding.
Post-Award Liaison:
- Maintain a continuing liaison with the Post-Award Office to assist in resolving complex post-award issues.
Project Management:
- Collaborate with investigators throughout the project period to ensure adherence to sponsor requirements and timely submissions of non-competing renewal applications, progress reports, project deliverables, and final technical reports.
Qualifications:
Skills:
- Excellent organizational, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in financial management, proofreading, and editing.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Attention to Detail:
- High accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
Interpersonal Relationships:
- Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and external parties.
Time Management:
- Ability to manage time-sensitive projects to meet deadlines and handle stress and pressure effectively.
Minimum Requirements:
License and Certifications:
- CRA or CPCM certification is highly preferred.
- A Master’s degree is highly preferred.
