Power Electronics R&D Engineer Position
Delta Electronics (Americas) Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and creative power electronics engineer with broad knowledge and experience to perform R&D projects for next-generation datacenter power solutions at its Milan M. Jovanovic Power Electronics Lab, located in Research Triangle Park, NC. ( )
Responsibilities
The candidate will be primarily be responsible for:
- Performing research, development, and testing power electronics technologies for high power applications.
- Working closely with R&D and product development teams in Asia & Europe to proposed new power solutions, analyze trade-offs and run test verification.
- Building and maintaining technical competency in high power electronics applications from low to medium voltage systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
The candidate must have the following knowledge and skills:
- Deep knowledge in topology, soft-switching techniques, modeling and control of various types of power converters such as DC/AC inverters, AC/DC converters, and DC/DC PWM and resonant converters.
- Hands-on experience in designing, debugging, and testing power converters.
- Familiarity with control theory and implementation using digital controllers.
- Proficiency in power-electronics simulation tools such as: MATLAB/Simulink, SIMPLIS, PLECS and MathCAD.
- Solid understanding of power semiconductor device characteristics (especially wide band-gap devices) and its driving circuitry.
- Solid understanding of high frequency magnetic component design and design tools such as Maxwell.
- Basic knowledge and experience on thermal and mechanical design.
Preferred Knowledge and Experiences
The following knowledge and skills are preferred and the candidate should have at least one of them:
- Solid understanding of multi-level converter and its application
- Familiarity with power architectures for EV charging, datacenters, renewable energy, and energy storage systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards for power-electronics converter design.
- Knowledge and experience about insulation design in power converters
Qualifications
- M.S. degree or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of relevant experience
