What you’ll do:

The In-House Counsel reports to the Senior Vice President - Legal and is responsible for legal matters involving evictions, property operations and governmental compliance for our portfolio of Florida properties.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal and strategic advice on property operations matters.
• Serve as a key lawyer on eviction and rent recovery lawsuits.
• Attend motion hearings and mediations, conduct depositions and handle non-jury trials.
• Draft and review litigation documents, settlement contracts and related documentation.
• Review applicable Florida and local land use laws and provide operational advice to property managers.
• Collaborate with other members of the law department and internal clients.
• Work with outside counsel on select legal matters.
• Prepare and present on legal issues to senior management.

Experience & skills you’ll need:

• Juris Doctorate degree and admittance to The Florida Bar.
• 3 to 5+ years of experience in a mid to large size law firm or State Attorney/Public Defender office.
• Litigation and trial experience is a major plus.
• Strong communication, leadership and collaboration skills.
• Meticulous and thorough attention to detail.
• Solid analytical, issue spotting and problem-solving skills.
