DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will assess the physical fitness and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as the mechanical state of vehicles, in accordance with established guidelines and standards. You will conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections prior to administering driving tests, ensuring that motor vehicles possess valid inspection stickers, functional lights, windshield wipers, and other essential mechanical features for safety and applicant familiarity with controls. You will review applications, registrations, and permits for potential discrepancies and fraudulent activity. Additionally, you will administer both CDL and Non-CDL knowledge examinations to evaluate applicants' understanding of the motor vehicle code and traffic signs. At the request of the Driver License Division Management Team, you will audit third party examiners for compliance with contracts, either by having them conduct a CDL skills test for a Department Examiner or by jointly scoring a test with them. You will also administer vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception assessments, while strictly following all elements of the Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Service Policy.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position my require overtime and travel.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (commonwealth title); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements: - All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License
or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application. - All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the
five year period immediately preceding employment. - All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an
active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment
or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment. - Possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
