The Bag Operator is responsible for operating the bag machine equipment, ensuring efficient manufacturing in line with manufacturing orders (MO) and the production schedule. This includes troubleshooting and problem-solving at the operator level. Adherence to company operating, safety, and housekeeping procedures, practices, and policies is essential. Additionally, this role involves overseeing the color matching of product prints.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL - 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Flexographic printing experience.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT - Ensures that Manufacturing Order (MO) schedule is being followed. Responsible for accurate production reporting. Responsible for components in visual workspace. Ensures that materials and tools are identified and staged ahead of schedule.
- Operates a bag machine to manufacture products from start (roll of paper) to finished product (sealed bag made to specific size tolerance and specifications).
- Completes change overs with Bag Adjusters to change from one Manufacturing Order (MOs) to the next to keep in accordance with scheduling needs and changes.
- Inspects entire press to make sure the web is threaded correctly for the job, all components (rollers, ink, etc.) are installed properly, and all mechanisms and other parts and assemblies are operational.
- Operates and monitors the press in accordance with established procedures and checks for proper web tracking, ink circulation, machine operations, and other irregularities.
- Organizes work area in a clean and efficient manner to perform processes according to established standards, productivity levels, housekeeping, and safety requirements outlined in Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).
- Works with press attendant and material handlers to order and maintain inventory control of inks, glues, and other raw materials as required.
- Informs supervisor of operating deviations or mechanical problems when they occur. Proposes machine modification and upgrades to improve production and quality of products.
- Performs all operations in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA laws, company policies, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), while maintaining a consistent production measure in accordance with all work instructions and manufacturing orders (MO).
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and management staff.
Applicants must be comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Hearing protection and steel toed shoes are required. Safety, hygiene and cleanliness is strictly enforced. Applicants must be able to engage in periods of long standing and walking, and perform consistent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Compensation Range: $18.29 - 22.37 per hour, consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position.
