Job Description The Atlantic Mobile Health Dispatcher II is an integral part of the Emergency Medical Services Department supporting Transport, MAV & Critical Care Operations.
The dispatcher is responsible for assignment of the most appropriate resource to meet the patient and customer's needs while assuring the safe completion of the transport through superior communication and customer service skills.
The dispatcher will utilize multiple phone lines, six computer screens and wall monitors containing information ranging from Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, telecommunications equipment, mapping software, vehicle tracking software, weather and traffic information to assure the safety of medical crews. Coordination with other EMS teams and Communications Center in the region to assure safe operations and collaboration and the necessary logistical support for the mission.
The ideal candidate is committed to safety, detail oriented and one who can function well in a fast paced, dynamic environment where finding solutions to complex logistical challenges is a must. World class customer service and communication skills are mandatory.
Job Responsibilities along with a percentage of time performing duties - Effectively prioritizes and assigns emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Makes accurate moment-to- moment decisions regarding scheduling trips and rearranging the current plan accordingly to accommodate exceptions and emergencies.
- Appropriately balances the needs of the customer and the company when making critical decisions.
- Maintains timely and accurate tracking of all units and company vehicles.
- Consistently performs status checks on crews verifying engagement, availability, safety and status.
- Expertly uses CAD Dispatch system to review trip requests, appropriately schedule transports to assure timely response and vehicle/resource utilization and service.
- Keeps trip requests organized and prioritizes trips for appropriate sequence dispatch when emergencies develop.
- Communicates to crew vital trip assignment and monitoring information via communication system.
- Consistently uses professional demeanor, voice tone and respect in all communications.
- Perform basic data entry; demonstrate ability to learn new computer programs and perform some advanced data entry when necessary.
- Complies with and enforces all policies and procedures.
- Escalates concerns regarding questionable matters to appropriate management.
- Operates all equipment under the Rules and Regulations of the Federal Communications Commission and the New Jersey State Department of Health. Office of Emergency Medical Services, as pertains to the function of a Mobile Healthcare Communications Center.
Qualifications Qualifications/Requirements: - Excellent telephone/radio voice, oral and written communication skills
- Able to clearly communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, in English language without excessive loudness that is disruptive to coworkers in a close quartered setting and not so softly one cannot be heard in a loud and often noisy work environment
- Must be capable of writing in English language utilizing pen on paper or electronic communication in a very expeditious manner
- Able to use a computer and be highly proficient and accurate with data entry
- Must be computer savvy to navigate various software applications comfortably
- Ability to work under pressure and in excessively high call/trip volume periods
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor and ability to process information and make critical, sound and quick decisions
- Punctual and stringent about his/her work, attendance and reporting
Minimum Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent required
Education: - 911 Officer (BTC) and EMD (New Jersey or National Academy) preferred
Relevant Experience: - Minimum one year of previous emergency and/or medical transport dispatching experience preferred
