GFL Environmental is looking for a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team in Fort St John, BC!

A Day in the Life* of a Mechanic:
Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipment
Using various power tools, hand instruments and cutting-edge equipment
Completing daily reports, work orders and ordering necessary parts
Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure parts
Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule
What’s Required:
Mechanics must have:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity
Ability to kneel, crawl and climb
Working Conditions:
May include exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold and fumes
