Manages the planning and conduct of high complexity internal audit practice management activities and leads components of the organizational Risk Based Audit Plan.
Work environment The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two (2) years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community. In joining the Internal Audit and Evaluation Sector as an Internal Audit Principal, you will contribute to the provision of independent, timely and objective assurance and consulting services to senior management at CSC. Based on direction from Treasury Board on prescribed presence in the workplace, CSC uses a hybrid work model which will allow most employees the opportunity to work a combination of telework and work from the CSC office location (there is currently a minimum requirement of working in the office three (3) days a week), subject to operational requirements.

Information you must provide In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications) EDUCATION: A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position to be staffed.
EXPERIENCE: Significant* experience leading a phase or portion of an internal or external audit engagement such as planning, examination or reporting. Significant* experience preparing materials (for example briefing notes, presentations, reports) to assist management** in making decisions/recommendations. Experience providing advice and recommendations to management**.
*Significant experience is normally associated with the performance of the duties for approximately three (3) years.
**Management is defined as Executive level and above, or senior executives in private or public sector organizations external to the Federal Public Service of Canada.

The following may be applied / assessed at a later date (may be needed for the job) ASSET EXPERIENCE: Experience planning, conducting, and reporting on assurance and/or advisory engagements. Experience leading interviews and debriefings with representatives of audited organizations. Experience leading practice management projects such as risk-based audit plans, quality assurance reviews, or quality assessments. Experience implementing management action plan follow-up activities. Experience liaising with external oversight providers, including the Office of the Auditor General. Experience conducting evaluations in the federal public sector.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Willingness and ability to work overtime. Willingness and ability to travel. Willingness and ability to conduct field visits to correctional facilities and remote sites, as required.
