Position Title: Payroll Accountant
Location: Brookfield, CT
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Job Type: (Full-Time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy of hours worked, deductions, bonuses, overtime, and other compensation. Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for both salaried and hourly employees.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and employee classification requirements (e.g., exempt vs. non-exempt).
- Review and verify timesheets and work records to ensure compliance with company policies and labor laws.
- Calculate and process deductions (e.g., taxes, benefits, retirement plans, garnishments) in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, and submit payment to government agencies.
- Prepare and submit required payroll reports (e.g., tax filings, employee earnings statements, and reports for HR and finance teams).
- Provide assistance in resolving payroll-related issues and discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in year-end payroll tasks, including generating W-2 forms, preparing tax filings, and supporting year-end audits. Ensure timely submission of tax documents and ensure accuracy of year-end reports.
- Work closely with the HR, Finance, and Accounting teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in payroll processing.
- Assist with accounting functions as needed
- Provide payroll & accounting documents as required by auditors
- Other ad hoc reports and tasks
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in payroll processing or related roles.
- Experience with ADP systems
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and employee benefits.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll data.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet payroll deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and ADP payroll system.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Willing to learn
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional overtime, especially during payroll processing cycles or year-end periods.
- The role is typically performed in an office environment
