The Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, driven individual whose knowledge and skills will help us take our Planning team to the next level. The ideal candidate will have an eye for continuous improvement opportunities and a knack for problem solving. You will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment as you work hand-in-hand with Operations, Supply Network Planning, and Business Management teams to ensure supply strategies are aligned with business goals and objectives. In this role you will:
- Serve as site Supply Planning supporting the monthly Sales and Operations Planning process by establishing / maintaining (quarterly) work center capacity assumptions, and incorporating these assumptions into rough cut capacity analysis
- Facilitate crisp and concise meeting interactions that are effective at defining the constraints, identifying root cause, identifying mitigation needed, and telling the story accurately;
- Drive mitigation for unresolvable capacity constraints (ie: headcount / equipment / raw material) & drive action item closure with cross functional stakeholders (Ops, Engineering, Procurement, Commodity Mgmt, Product Mgmt)
- Maintain relevant performance metrics; create and drive appropriate action plans to manage performance to them;
- OTS, Plan vs. Actual, Projected Volumes (SVOP)
- Understand root causes related to deltas; drive cross functional alignment and collaboration across the entire site for metric performance/operational excellence
- Exception msg metrics; compile volume of messages, understand root causes related to top contributors; escalation as needed; drive MRP signal integrity improvement as needed;
- Maintains and initiates change to parameters in the Material Master that influence accurate and optimized MRP signals (ie: MRP Type, Lead times, SMKs, SPKs, MOQ, Lot size/settings, etc);
- Develops scheduling methodology that delivers a stable and achievable schedule, while still delivering agility when / where needed to support customer requirements;
- Creates, maintains and verifies the Production Schedule and interfaces with Marketing, Sales, Operations and Engineering to resolve labor, equipment and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule deficits and / or interruptions;
- Creates and maintains valid Capacity Requirements plan, supporting the Production Schedule;
- Evaluates scheduling priorities needed to support fluctuating demands in sales for the product set that they oversee; including collaboration cross functionally as required;
- Works with Buyer, Operations, Engineering and Management to provide solutions to problems in meeting the Production Plan in order to ensure that the Production Schedule is achieved;
- Lead cross functional meetings to resolve urgent supply issues utilizing data integrating MPS principles
- Communicates scheduling exceptions to Management, Sales, Marketing and Supply Network Planner;
- Reviews capacity performance and recommends necessary changes as needed;
- Adheres to defined Planning and Scheduling business processes; including planning cycle, exception message management and time horizons;
- Ensures planning process and transactional execution that upholds inventory accuracy / integrity throughout the manufacturing process end to end;
- Participates in continuous improvement of Planning and Control systems;
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
- B.S. degree or equivalent experience; degree in Supply Chain Management/Operations a plus;
- 5-7 year of production planning in a Manufacturing environment preferred;
- Six-Sigma, APICS, CSCP, CPIM or similar certification a plus;
- Understanding of the basic principles and operations of ERP systems and the integration of company functions provided by an ERP system, SAP required; experience in Process Manufacturing mechanics in SAP a plus;
- Capability to discuss the role of the Material Master parameters and Bill of Materials in ERP;
- Understanding and evaluation of the contents and calculations on the MRP (supply vs. demand) display or report; including how safety stock influences calculations of projected on hand balances in MRP;
- Understanding of the distinction of independent and dependent demand to ERP;
- Knowledge of planning utilizing action or exception messaging;
- Knowledge of and application of planning time fences in MRP;
- Capability of working with pegged requirements in MRP;
- Know how to perform order rescheduling in MRP;
- Basic knowledge of capacity requirements planning (CRP); Detailed CRP knowledge (work centers, labor and machines, routings, setup times, run, standards and move times) a plus;
- Working / intermediate skills related to data extraction, data analysis and use of Microsoft Excel;
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment under time constraints;
- Ability to influence Production Management team to meet Customer requirements while balancing Key Operating Metrics (Revenue, Inventory, Utilization)
- Ability to effectively lead and facilitate meetings with cross functional teams and drive appropriate actions
- Understanding of and review of Work Center, Routing and Bill of Material parameters that influence accurate and optimized MRP signals.
- Work Center: labor vs. equipment, shift schedule, resource quantity, calendar, efficiency
- Routing: control keys, run vs. set up, yield, interoperation time
- Bill of Material: parent/child relationships, subassemblies, lead time offsets, critical path, scrap, bulk & backflush implications.
