Magnetic Seal has an opportunity for a Production Expeditor to join our team!This opportunity willbe onsite in Warren, Rhode Island.
Position Summary
The Production Expeditor is primarily responsible for managing thenear-term planning for the facility to meet weekly shipments and realize salesgoals.The Production Expeditor will be responsible formanaging and addressing issues preventing the execution of the MasterProduction Schedule (MPS) and the production plan to ensure on-time shipmentsaccording to customer requirements.The Production Expeditor isresponsible for procurement functions directly associated with the company'sneeds for in-process materials and services.Additionally, the positionrequires that consumables, raw materials, shop services, fixed assets andtooling are acquired at reasonable costs and with timely delivery. The positionis further responsible for the planning and scheduling of receipt and inventorycontrol of the products and services as assigned consistent with MagSeal andAS9100 and ISO requirements.The Production Expeditor will findand qualify potential suppliers, negotiate prices and terms, and executeagreements for purchases of outside services with Engineering.The Production Expeditor will maintain relationshipswith our suppliers to ensure that materials are delivered in line with thedemand as it fluctuates within the while managing and maintaining appropriateinventory to avoid waste keeping costs down. They will also be key for aligningsupport of various functions to aid in managing exceptions to the MPS.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain and coordinate the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and productionplan in coordination with the Operations production team.
- Manage issues preventing execution of the MPS and production plan. Issuesinclude but are not limited to, non-conforming materials or processes, materialor equipment availability.
- Plan materials requirements and place purchase orders from outside suppliersto support production schedules and new product launches, with increased complexityand volume.
- Negotiate pricing and delivery.
- Work with the supplier to ensure materials are made to the properspecifications.
- Surface issues to Operations management when capacity plans are challenged tomeet shipment goals.
- Utilize the ERP to optimize workflow, schedule planning and procurement.
- Manage workflow progress, including working with production and othersupporting departments to ensure production plans are met.
- Create and process purchase orders to vendors in a timely manner as to allowfor the production schedule to be met according to the demands of production.
- Manage inter-vendor material transfers and material flows.
- Expedite purchase orders as required.
- Establish and maintain gross inventory targets. Includes developing actionplans to minimize inventory exposure and for scrapping or mitigating excess andobsolete parts based on business information.
- Identify, plan and execute cost reduction initiatives.
- Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determinesupply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control andmanagement.
- Effectively manage and communicate to Vendors, our requirements.
- Interface professionally with engineering, manufacturing and qualitydepartments.
- Provide ongoing progress updates of new vendors through key metrics.
- KPI's to include % of Realized savings, procurement costs, supplierperformance, Risk analysis of supply disruption, source management and otherorganizational, tactical and strategic metrics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Planning or a relatedfield preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training andexperience totaling at least three (3) years.
- Two (2) years of experience in manufacturing production planning/logistics.
-Computer skills to includeMicrosoft office, time management software such as Outlook for effective timemanagement.
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written), able to collaboratewithin the team and present information.
- Effective problem solving skills that will prevent problems before they occurand minimize impact to production.
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and conduct that conforms to MagSeal valuesand culture.
- Possess self-motivation, drive and takes initiative to achieve targetassignments.
- Highly responsible, detail oriented individual with ability to make and meettight deadlines.
- Strong negotiation skills along with good management / financial / businessacumen.
- Must be a US Citizen or a US permanent resident.
- Must be local to the Rhode Islandfacility.
- Excellent organizational, time managementand training skills.
- Experience using an ERP system ina Buyer/Planner capacity is a plus!
- Working knowledge of the metalsindustry, products and materials preferred.
Work Environment
This position operates on the manufacturing floor and in a professional officeenvironment.This role routinely usesstandard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filingcabinets and scanners.Must be able towear required Personal Protective Equipment while on the manufacturingfloor.
