Job Description
The Department of Pediatric Radiology provides a full range of imaging services for newborns, infants, children, teenagers, young adults and pregnant women at Boston Children's Hospital and our satellite clinics in Lexington, North Dartmouth, Peabody, Waltham, and Weymouth. Our experienced radiology team carries out more than 200,000 imaging studies each year, using the latest equipment and techniques specially designed or adapted for use with children.

The per diem CT Technologist is responsible for the following:
  1. Performs routine imaging examinations in CT on a scheduled and emergency basis.
  2. Reviews and evaluates requisitions for CT imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for CT examinations.
  3. Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers.
  4. Performs basic imaging analysis (e.g. 3D).
  5. Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  6. Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs.
  7. Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Radiation exposure, practices ALARA.
  8. Consistently provides exceptional care and exceptional service.
  9. Follows Departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations
  10. Practices High Reliability Training.

  1. Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.

  1. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions.

  1. Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations of section.

  4. Complies with HIPAA regulations.

Professional Development
  1. Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
  2. Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
The CT Technologist must have the following:
  • RT/CT Massachusetts State License
  • Advanced CT Massachusetts State License is required within 12 months of hire date for CT trainees.
  • RT/CT registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
  • Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT certification.
  • BLS certification
  • Associates degree in Allied Health
  • 1 year of experience working as a Radiologic Technologist
