DCH Health System is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon with proven leadership and team building skills to work collaboratively with a highly regarded community-based practice. The selected candidate will be employed by DCH Health System.
The selected candidate will be Board Certified, with 5-7 years of experience in either an employed or private practice setting, experience with complex aortic disease, aortic valve repair and replacement to include complex open and endovascular aortic procedures, cardiothoracic surgery with particular focus on catheter and minimally invasive treatment of heart valve disease and heart failure.
The existing cardiovascular community practice consists of two accomplished Cardiovascular Surgeons with over 40 years combined clinical experience. One of the surgeons is going to retire at the end of 2017.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the stakeholders to further develop and advance the team-oriented cardiology/cardiovascular service line that continues to meet the needs of the community and provides the highest level of quality care. Use best efforts to develop benchmarks that meet and exceed patient expectations and place the Health system in the top 10 percentile for clinical quality, patient safety and patient experience
- Assess market trends for Cardiovascular Surgery within the primary and secondary service areas and identify gaps in service and opportunities to grow market share
- Assess national trends in Cardiovascular Surgery to ensure the latest most technologically-advanced therapies are available to residents
- Participate actively in the development and analysis of research protocols
- Actively participate on appropriate Medical Staff and Administrative committees which involve advancing the care, outcomes, and exemplary performance of the service line
- Maintain competency standards as set forth by the ACC/STS
- Fosters a sense of teamwork through collaborative processes with medical staff, nursing, administration, and other health care team members
- Build a vibrant and sustainable professional, team-based relationships with referring Primary Care Physicians and Cardiologists within the community
- Collaborate with other physicians to promote positive clinical outcomes, improved processes and support research
