Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a full-time BC/BE Breast Surgeon to join our high functioning high quality breast care team.
Our breast surgery team provides high quality, patient-centered breast surgery care at Penn Medicine Lancaster General’s Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute and the facilities of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. Our breast team currently comprises breast specialty surgeons, surgery specialized Advanced Practice Providers, and a shared team of navigators, genetic counselors, lymphedema therapists, social workers, chaplains, behavioral health specialists and financial counselors. We are seeking a third dedicated fellowship trained breast surgeon to bring new ideas, skills, and perspective to our forward thinking team.
The Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, part of Penn Medicine Lancaster General, is a beautiful, light-filled, 90,000 square foot state-of-the-art cancer center that provides a multidisciplinary setting for cancer care including Surgical, Medical, and Radiation Oncology services complemented by a wide range of supportive services providing holistic care that addresses the needs of our breast cancer patients and their families. Our busy breast surgery group cares for approximately 450 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients annually and a larger contingent of benign and high risk patients. No general surgery practice or call is required and breast surgery call is 1:3. Multidisciplinary breast tumor board takes place weekly with consistent participation from all specialties. Breast cancer clinical trials are available on site, and are supported by our Clinical Research Unit staff.
Our Breast Team provides the continuum of breast care, including diagnosis, cancer treatment, and high risk management. Multidisciplinary care is planned and provided in our cancer institute supported by a Breast Oncology Leadership Team, as well as weekly Breast Tumor Board. Our program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons, and currently preparing for NAPBC accreditation. The Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute is a successful participant in the CMS Oncology Care Model. The Penn Lancaster Breast Program is an integral component of the system-wide Penn Medicine Breast Program. Leadership and teaching opportunities, including with the SSO-approved breast surgery fellowship are available. Academic appointment commensurate with credentials is available through the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.
Candidate requirements:
Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine (allopathic/osteopathic)
Completion of an accredited General Surgery Residency
Completion of an accredited Breast Surgical Oncology or Surgical Oncology Fellowship
Possession or eligibility to obtain an unrestricted PA Medical License
Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
Expertise in the management and surgical treatment of benign and malignant breast disease
Expertise in the performance and utilization of breast ultrasound in the OR and clinical settings is preferred but can be acquired in the practice through our ASBRS accredited breast surgeon
