Maintenance Mechanic B is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and installation tasks on the physical plant, equipment, and machinery, in accordance with established standards. Ensures the safety of equipment operations, following strict safety protocols and complying with all Company policies and procedures.
Role & Responsibilities - Respond to trouble calls related to production equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance routines as assigned.
- Complete work request repairs as designated.
- Follow special instructions from Engineering staff.
- Accomplish all related forms and paperwork before the end of the shift.
- Keep the shop and shop equipment clean and safe.
- Ensure all equipment is in a sanitary condition after performing work before releasing it back to the Production Department.
- Conduct test runs on all equipment after repairs or preventive maintenance.
- Maintain a minimum tool list and carry tools to all calls.
- Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures, including safety and work rules.
Safety: The primary responsibility is to maintain all equipment in safe operating condition, unless locked out for repair or preventive maintenance (P.M.). Key safety guidelines include:
- Lock out all equipment before commencing work or removing guards.
- Avoid operating equipment without prior knowledge of its operation.
- Ensure equipment is clear of personnel or foreign objects before starting.
- Refrain from inserting objects into running equipment.
- Keep hands and arms free from moving parts.
- Report potential safety hazards immediately.
- Ensure closure, locking, and sealing of all electric cabinets/enclosures.
- Maintain a clean and safe appearance, including wearing clean, tucked-in uniforms with sleeves buttoned or rolled up.
Sanitation: - Follow proper Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.s) at all times.
- Sweep the shop daily before the end of the shift.
- Dispose of all unserviceable used parts before the end of the shift.
- Maintain orderly parts storage areas.
Requirements Requirements & Physical Demands - Must possess and maintain a valid license as required by state, industry, city, or county (boiler, refrigeration, etc.). A forklift operating license is required.
- Physically capable of rapid, unimpeded movement to all areas of the plant. Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders, crawl under and climb onto machinery and equipment, and enter and exit confined spaces.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and practice necessary safety procedures and signs. Must wear approved applicable safety equipment as needed.
- Performance of other duties deemed integral by management, including fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures.
