Under the directions and supervision of professional and practical nursing staff, performs routine duties in caring for infants through geriatric patients' needs and unit maintenance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Performs routine duties in caring for patients' needs and activities of daily living, i.e., hygiene, comfort, ambulation.
• Functions as an assistant to the nurse as assigned.
• Documents and maintains data or patient's record.
• Demonstrates and promotes an awareness of patient's age, growth, development, and cultural / spiritual.
• Acts as a patient advocate.
• Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team.
• Participates in performance improvement.
• Performs related work as required.
• Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations.
• Approaches situations with distressed patients, families and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment.
Education: Completion of state approved CNA program required.
Certifications: CNA and CPR certification required
Additional Experience Preferred
• Current knowledge of clinical practice.
• Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment: copy machine, intercom system, telephones, computer and fax machine.
• Experience in computer order entry.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Effectively handles frequent interruptions and distractions.
