Job Summary:
Central Transport is currently looking for a dedicated Local Driver to join our team. As a Local Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods and materials within a specified area, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining a high level of customer service. This position offers the opportunity for local routes and consistent home time.
Duties:
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport goods to various locations
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or flatbeds
- Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure on-time deliveries
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle maintenance
Skills:
- Experience in automotive repair, commercial driving, or heavy equipment operation
- Proficiency in route driving and regional lane knowledge
- Ability to load and unload cargo efficiently
- Strong understanding of safe driving practices
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and weekends as needed
