Job Description

MHC Healthcare is seeking a Mobile Dental Unit Driver - CDL to join the Dental team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ.
The Mobile Dental Unit Driver - CDL drives, maintains, sets up, and provides administrative and functional support to the clinical operations of the Mobile Dental Unit.
MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 14 sites in Tucson and Pima County. Our mission is to improve our Community by providing exceptional, whole-person healthcare.
The following qualifications are required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience working in a customer service environment
  • Experience in transportation services
  • Ability to complete and maintain required Driver and Transportation training on an annual basis
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire)
  • First Aid certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Minimum 21 years of age with a current Arizona driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance (5-year MVR will be run by MHC)
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL)
The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.
Anticipated Schedule - 4 ten hour shifts.
This position has the following supervisory responsibility:
May occasionally provide direction, training, or guidance to others.
The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of applicable procedures and state and federal laws regarding commercial vehicle care and transportation services.
  • Ability to diagnose basic vehicle mechanical problems.
  • Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
  • Computer proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to perform a variety of assignments with or without supervision and occasionally utilize independent judgment.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills with emphasis on responsiveness, building trust, mutual respect, and courtesy.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence and commitment to supporting and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion through work performance and professional interactions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drives the Mobile Dental Unit to designated sites where dental services will be provided.
  • Completes mobile unit set-up and activates computerized systems on-board prior to start of clinical operations.
  • Performs routine vehicle maintenance functions prior to operation and ensures the Mobile Dental Unit always stays in efficient and clean condition.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support to the Mobile Dental Unit and applicable sites as needed.
  • Transcribes accurate patient demographic information into the required systems to ensure timely reimbursement for services.
  • Greets and checks in patients in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Maintains all vehicle safety and operational checks and accurately maintains a vehicle maintenance log according to established schedules.
  • Breaks down the Mobile Dental Unit at the end of the clinic session and drives the vehicle back to the designated parking area.
  • Periodically dumps waste and arranges for washing and detailing of vehicle.
  • Collaborates with Transportation Department to ensure proper vehicle maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Uses appropriate incident reporting procedures when documenting unsafe or problematic incidents involving patients, clients, or staff.
