Position Summary
Performs complex tasks in preparing metal and other surfaces on aircraft and equipment for painting. Applies lacquers, primers, synthetic enamels, polyurethane, and epoxy with spray guns, brushes and rollers. Painters will also support by painting ground support equipment. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrates proficiency of aircraft systems and theory of operations.

Demonstrates expertise in appropriate tooling, equipment, reference manuals and follow instructions with minimal errors.

Masks trim and other parts not to be painted; cleans, sands and prepares surfaces for painting independently or with others with no supervision.

Applies primer and finish coats to aircraft, parts and GSE equipment. Uses lacquers and synthetic paints and enamels; applies decals, pressure sensitive and scotch lite numbers, letters, seals, and trim independently or with others with no supervision.

Performs as the Alternate Lead and related functions, as required.

Maintains paint supplies and materials and ensures adequate inventory on hand.

Mixes and matches paints for complex paint tasks.

Ensures proper cleaning and maintenance of spray guns and other painting equipment.

Reads and interprets aircraft paint drawings and follows them accurately to accomplish paint job and ensures regulatory, emergency and other customer placards are correct. Reads instructions and all cautions/warnings/notes information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.

Prepares and maintains simple records such as work order documentation, turn over logs, and time and material records, as instructed.

Reads task cards and follows them accurately to accomplish paint job ensuring FAA, emergency and other customer placards are correct.

Follows safety procedures and wears/uses appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed. Complies with all safety procedures at all times, without exception.

Records time worked as directed by supervisor.

Performs work standards that meet and comply with all federal, customer and company policies and procedures which apply.

Keeps informed of policies and procedures and asks supervisor for explanations if needed.

Maintains work-related training and qualifications as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Previous Experience
Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant aircraft painter experience providing knowledge of work techniques, terminology, parts, etc. preferred.

Technical Skills
Must possess good knowledge of safety precautions required in performing the work of the trade, general knowledge of stenciling, skill in the use of spray guns and the ability to mix and match paints. Familiar with 14 CFR Part 91/121/145 preferred

Physical Requirement
Lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials; ascends and descends ladders and platforms; and frequently works in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting. Works around unpleasant or toxic fumes and materials. Must have initial (baseline) and annual physicals to ensure continued good personal health as required by law.
