National Salvage and Service is seeking to hire a Dispatcher which is based out of our office in Bloomington, Indiana.
This is an In-Office position - no remote or hybrid work is available at this time.
National Salvage & Service is a sustainable company, we recycle nearly all the material we salvage. This practice not only keeps these materials out of landfills, improving the environment; it also saves our customers significant amounts of money, reducing the cost of a job and adding to profit.
National is a leading wholesale provider of used railroad ties and new railroad ties and other treated hardwood railroad track products, as well as recycled utility poles.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Daily contact, via phone calls, with truck drivers, field operators, and/or field leadership.
  • Responsible for coordinating the movement of railroad ties, scrap, and rail across the United States.
  • Responsible for detailed work that must be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently.
  • Comfortable communicating to all levels of leadership
  • Active participant in department meetings, and comfortable speaking to the needs of the business.
  • Has the ability to foresee upcoming issues/concerns regarding the movement of railroad material.
  • A faster than average pace, while maintaining strong accuracy of work.
  • Strong sense of urgency and initiative to gets things done correctly.
  • Control all aspects of tasks from initiation to completion including strong, friendly follow up
  • Apply a set of standards to changing environments
Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of US geographical territories
  • Work at a steady even pace to promote accuracy and quality of work
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks without losing patience and keeping a keen eye to accuracy.
  • Complete a set of procedures and tasks before beginning new ones
  • Developed organizational skills.
  • Experience in logistics, preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Physical Requirements: Stand, Walk, Climb, Bend, Twist, Move Throughout the Day, Use Hands in Repetitive Motions, Repeat Same Movements, work comfortably in a typical indoor office environment.
