We are seeking to build a pool of candidates for future C ustodian III, USC Housing positions to join our rapidly growing team.

The Opportunity: Are you a driven custodial professional? Do you take pride in creating the best experience for your guests? Then this is the job for you! As our Custodian III, you will be a helpful and friendly face for our students, faculty, staff, and guests as well as ensuring that our properties are clean and well-maintained. You will use your knowledge and experience to help us live up to our standards of excellence in all that we do.
The Accountabilities: - Perform standard custodial procedures. Ensure that custodial standards are met. Maintain cleanliness of assigned facilities.
- Provide customer service to faculty, staff, students, and guests. Meet customer needs, offer options, resolve problems, and follow up with customers. Maintain friendly, helpful demeanor.
- Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting maintenance and repair procedures.
- Assist supervisor in prioritizing work orders.
- Assist in the training of new custodians and temporary staff in the proper use of cleaning equipment.
- Maintain perpetual inventories of custodial and maintenance supplies by direction of the supervisor.
- Identify and communicate emergency situations to the manager.
- Maintain safe and secure areas and reports unsafe conditions to manager.
- Complies with all university policies and procedures and with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
The Qualifiers: - Education: High School Diploma not required
- Experience: 2 years. Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience.
- Expertise:
- Thorough knowledge of custodial trade
- Knowledge of all cleaning standards and methods, materials, and equipment
- Knowledge of and compliance with the operation of all mechanical cleaning equipment
- Proven customer service experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs
- Presents oneself professionally, in line with higher education environment
- Valid CA driver's license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information please visit the policy website.

The hourly rate for this position is $21.93. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education: Less than high school.
Minimum Experience: 2 years, combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience.
Minimum Field of Expertise: Thorough knowledge of custodial trade. Knowledge of all cleaning standards and methods, materials, and equipment. Knowledge of and compliance with the operation of all mechanical cleaning equipment. Knowledge of and compliance with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting work. Proven customer service experience. Ability to speak and write in English. Valid driver's license may be required. Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
