The Custodian II will be part of a close-knit team that insures a clean and safe environment for students, and supports each other in that mission. This position will clean and perform room set-ups in assigned building areas following established industry leading routines and procedures, serve as a lead person on cleaning assignments and be responsible for training and supporting temporary summer employees on methods and procedures. This position may be required to work on occasional evenings and weekends.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Maintain the appearance of offices, classrooms, laundry rooms, trash rooms, bathrooms, lobbies, lounges, elevators, elevator lobbies, stairwells, and restrooms.
* Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, trash removal, wet mopping, dry mopping, scrubbing, stripping, restoring buffing, extracting, and waxing.
* Responsible for supervising and training temporary summer staff.
* Work with the maintenance team to address any emergencies involving custodial tasks in the facilities. Notify the maintenance team of problems observed in the building.
* Responsible for submitting work orders to the maintenance team.
* Maintain a record of cleaning supplies used and will restock when needed.
* Set-up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and public areas. Wash walls, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
* Clean and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim. Replace light bulbs, clean debris from parking decks, courtyards, and the main building.
* Responsible for monitoring the trash compactors and moving trash carts to the main compactors for dumping.
* Assist in emergency situations requiring wet vacuuming, cleaning appliances, and the removal of graffiti.
* Attend and participate in regular unit and departmental meetings.
* Participate in departmental committees, interview processes, and training.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting. Must be able to lift approximately 30-50 lbs. Must pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
A successful candidate should possess the following:
* Knowledge of the operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings.
* Knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting with required, approximately 30 -50 lbs.
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
