Description NEW! $27.10 - $36.00 / hour Transdev Bus Operators provides transportation via Sonoma County Transit within the county. Our drivers provide a valuable service to the community by transporting our customers in a safe and reliable manner on an assigned route.
Primary Job Functions: - Safely operate all types of buses and other vehicles within the transit fleet.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, regulations, employee handbook, labor agreement, driver alerts, and other posted notices.
- Maintain published schedules and routing.
- Provide excellent customer service skills.
- Collect proper fares and issues transfers as appropriate.
- Ensure transit system accessibility for persons with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Prepare written reports prior to completion of shift, including vehicle pre-trip inspection, accident or incident reports, hours of service logbook, various operational surveys, bus stop report form, school tripper passenger citation, and other paperwork as required.
- Follow all dispatch and other supervisory directives and instructions.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
License/Certification - Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements required or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire.
Pre-Employment Requirements: - Must be able to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of schedule 1 drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
- Must be able to pass an employment DOT physical examination.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Skills and Knowledge and Abilities: - Effective verbal and written communication; must be able to read and comprehend all policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Knowledge and ability to safely carry out all policies and procedures applicable to job function and duties.
- Must learn, retain, and be able to communicate complete knowledge of the transit system routes, schedules, and service areas.
- Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Able to use or operate vehicle controls including steering wheel, brake, throttle, mirrors, radio, lifts/ramps (manually as necessary), mobility device securement systems, fire extinguisher, and other equipment related to assigned duties.
Physical Requirements: - Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, driving, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, twisting, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Exposures include sun, heat, cold, rain, wind, water, fumes, and chemicals.
