Medical Assistant - Convenient Care + Department: Convenient Care - Curtis Rd + Entity: Champaign-Urbana Service Area + Job Category: Patient Care + Employment Type: Full - Time + Job ID: 46620 + Experience Required: None + Education Required: HS Diploma/GED + Shift: Day + Location: Champaign, IL + Usual Schedule: 3,12hr shifts/wk 8a-8p + On Call Requirements: 12 hours per 6 weeks + Work Location: Carle Champaign on Curtis + Weekend Requirements: Every other + Holiday Requirements: Department rotation Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Position Summary: The Medical Assistant 1 maintains department patient care supplies, rooms patients in a timely fashion, performs EKG's and Point of Care testing and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families. Qualifications: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma/Equivalent CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS). Successful completion of medical terminology course within six (6) months of start date in position. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Previous healthcare experience preferred. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Ability to multitask. Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others. Essential Functions:+ Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.+ Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.+ Obtain vitals and collect data for patients to be seen by provider.+ Perform waiting room and exam room rounding.+ Assist providers with procedures.+ Perform procedures, not limited to, EKG, ear wash, vision screening, dressing change, wound care, suture/staple removal,point of care testing and splint application.+ Collect and process specimens correctly.+ Cleaning and stocking exam rooms.+ Member of the code team.+ Apply and charge for Durable Medical Equipment as appropriate.
