Job Title: Housekeeper Job Description As a housekeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in a hospital environment. You will be assigned to a specific floor and given a checklist to follow. Your duties will include cleaning public restrooms, wash sinks, and counters, managing garbage, refilling supplies, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping linens from beds, and pushing them to the laundry chute, as well as making beds. You will also interact with patients when cleaning occupied rooms, following a conversation script to introduce yourself, offer additional assistance, and communicate patient needs to nurses or doctors.
Responsibilities - Clean public restrooms, wash sinks, and counters.
- Manage garbage disposal and refill supplies.
- Perform sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming tasks.
- Strip linens from beds and push them to the laundry chute.
- Make beds and perform other tasks as required.
- Introduce yourself to patients in occupied rooms, offer additional assistance, and communicate patient needs to nurses or doctors.
- Leave a card with your name and the EVS department's phone number in patient rooms.
Essential Skills - No prior experience required.
- Must be a dedicated and strong worker with a positive attitude.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, nurses, doctors, and the housekeeping team.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work with difficult people and diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to follow safety requirements and lift up to 50lbs and push up to 200lbs.
- Availability to work weekends and adhere to assigned shifts.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications - Previous hospital cleaning/housekeeping experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.

Work Environment You will be working throughout the hospital, including in and around hospital rooms without patients. This fast-paced and physically demanding job involves working in various departments such as doctor's offices, patient rooms, post-partum, emergency, behavioral health, dialysis, orthopedics, and critical care. Be prepared to walk up to 7 miles a day and work with sick patients, including those with infections or diseases. The job is located in the Hood River area.
