Overview:
Position: Quality Inspector
Location: Newington, CT
Duration: 3-6 months
Schedule: Monday-Friday (4) hours per day
Pay Rate: BOE Ranging from $28.00-$30.00
Job Summary:
- As the Quality Inspector
- you will utilize inspection equipment to validate conformance of machined components thru manufacturing process. In addition, you will collaborate with Machine Shop Management, Quality Audit, and other Engineering functions throughout the problem-solving process. This will require excellent communication skills to bring sides together for problem resolution.
Must Be Able To:
- Work in fast paced manufacturing environment
- Provide PPE as required per supplier policies
- Stand, sit, bend, kneel or maneuver as required to complete inspection
Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Personally perform 1st Article, 1st Piece, In-Process and Final Inspection activities
- Coach, teach and help train Machine Operators in measurement and inspection techniques and methods
- Assist Manufacturing managers by ensuring that regular in-process inspections by our Machine Operators are being performed
- Help to ensure that inspection gauges and instruments are properly controlled, maintained and calibrated and are certified on a timely basis.
- Inspect Certificates of Conformance from material, external suppliers, and other service providers to ensure these items conform to customers and SSIs purchase order requirements and specifications
- Perform a wide variety of conventional/traditional inspection operations utilizing various inspection techniques such as SPC, geometric tolerancing, etc
- Assist machinists in quality-related activities (use and care of inspection equipment, interpretation of blueprints)
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Min 10 years of practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on various commodities, including but not limited to Machined parts, Assemblies and Sub-Assemblies.
- Understand Aerospace standards, such as but not limited to, AS9100, AS9102, ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
- Must have the ability to read / interpret engineering drawings and Purchase Orders (POs).
- Experience using various mechanical inspection tools
- Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance to the AS9102 standard
