Application Architect – Digital Analytics and Reporting

Projects/Activities:

1. Develop a Corporate Data Analytics Strategy that keeps pace with MPI’s modernization activities and adoption of cloud technologies. The strategy needs to consider the existing legacy infrastructure, changing reporting needs, and the new technologies being adopted. It will also need to deal with the complex aspects of our information management, decision support, and analytics from user experience and performance, infrastructure, security, and governance.
2. Develop a multi-year roadmap that aligns with the approved Data Analytics Strategy.
3. Document the Data Analytics conceptual and logical architectures.

Mandatory Minimum Skill Requirements:

1. Leverage the organization’s information and infrastructure environment as well as a modern, emerging technology landscape to design a holistic and optimized analytics platform.
2. 5+ years’ experience establishing business intelligence technology standards, creating an analytics roadmap, infrastructure, and tools in a hybrid (Cloud and on-premise) environment, including but not limited to:
1. Setup and organization of Data Warehouse and Data Marts. Experience defining logical data warehouses and working with virtual infrastructure is an asset.
2. Analytic processing.
3. Predictive Analytics, Big Data, and Data Lakes.
4. Adhoc Reporting.
5. Static Reporting.
3. Working experience planning and setting up Business Intelligence tools: Tableau and PowerBI are required . Working with SAP is beneficial.
4. Experience deploying analytics in a Microsoft environment.
5. Experienced working with Agile delivery teams.
6. Preference will be given to candidates with experience modernizing legacy data analytics and reporting technologies.

Assets:

1. A Certified Data Management Professional Certification (CDMP – DAMA).
2. Experienced with Agile SAFe Framework.

Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES COULD INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Develop application architectures, frameworks, and strategies, either for an organization or for a major application area, to meet the business and application requirements.
2. Define architecture to be used in web-based projects.
3. Identify the policies and requirements that drive out a particular solution.
4. Analyze and evaluate alternative technology solutions to meet business problems.
5. Ensure the integration of all aspects of technology solutions.
6. Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with government and industry directions for technology.
7. Analyze functional requirements to identify information, procedures, and decision flows.
8. Evaluate existing procedures and methods, identify and document database content, structure, and application sub-systems, and develop data dictionary.
9. Define and document interfaces of manual to automated operations within application sub-systems, to external systems, and between new and existing systems.
10. Define input/output sources, including a detailed plan for the technical design phase, and obtain approval of the system proposal.
11. Identify and document system-specific standards relating to programming, documentation, and testing, covering program libraries, data dictionaries, naming conventions, etc.
12. Perform architectural modeling to ensure consistency of the design with existing work.
13. Assess the impact of the new requirements on existing web applications.
14. Ensure functionalities have been implemented according to specifications.
15. Define assumptions and constraints of architecture with regard to physical structure and data collection.
16. Develop post-implementation plan for monitoring/tracking architecture stability.

7+ years of relevant experience in this role – Preferably with a recognized professional certification.
