Within the Energy department, as a Senior P&C Engineer:

Your responsibilities

  1. Prepare Single Line Diagrams, DC Schematics, Connection Wiring Diagrams for Transmission and Distribution Protection Solutions. In particular, Line, Transformer, Breaker, Bus, Teleprotection, SCADA/RTU, Feeder Protection arrangements;
  2. Review (QA) checks on PC&T discipline specific designs and documents;
  3. The PC&T Engineer shall approve, stamp and sign PC&T designs as required. The P&C&T Office shall review and approve designs for sealing by the PC&T Engineer.
  4. Provide support for the preparation of estimates and proposals for the PC&T component of bids prepared by High Voltage department;
  5. Perform studies and prepare reports related to protection system designs, including protection coordination studies, short circuit calculations, relay settings, grounding studies, etc.;
  6. Make recommendations for purchasing of major equipment and fixed assets for the discipline;
  7. Contribute to the technical excellence and the technological leadership used within the PC&T discipline;
  8. Provide training and development support for PC&T resources as required to ensure that delivery of designs for successful execution of projects;
  9. Identify staffing needs and recommend the hiring and termination of staff for the discipline to the Director of PC&T;
  10. Maintain courteous and professional relations between the PC&T discipline and other business units and with our customers;
  11. Prepare the procedures and work instructions pertaining to the PC&T discipline;
  12. Provide support for the investigation of any problem or complaint in the PC&T discipline with respect to his product, process, and quality system;
  13. Implement the necessary corrective actions to resolve the non-conformities occurring in the PC&R discipline and provide feedback on the implementation and efficiency of the solutions;
  14. Ensure that the product is delivered only when the technical and quality requirements of the contract are completely satisfied;
  15. Practice the health and safety requirements as mandated by the company.

Your profile

  1. Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 or more years of experience;
  2. At least 10 High Voltage Substation Protection experience with heavy understanding of Line, Transformer, breaker, bus, feeder, SCADA/RTU, teleprotection etc;
  3. A profession engineering (P.Eng) registration within the Province of Ontario is required;
  4. Possess experience and skills in the areas of; design, maintenance and troubleshooting of PC&T systems, team-building, training, report preparation, communications, decision making, planning and organization;
  5. Excellent team player and have the ability to perform well in a challenging environment;
  6. Project management experience and skills in the areas of; planning and scheduling, resources management, estimating, progress reporting, negotiations with clients and vendors, etc. (asset);
  7. Bilingualism would be an asset.
