Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a PRN Echo / Vascular Ultrasound Technologist. The Echo / Vascular US Tech p erforms diagnostic echocardiogram and vascular testing. Cardiovascular Technologists administer high-frequency sound waves to demonstrate portions of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems. They prepare patients for examinations by explaining the procedure, removing clothing that interferes with scanning and appropriately positioning the patient for the proper examination. Essential Functions: Provides services/care for following patient population and documents such consistent with Hospital and departmental standards: neonate, toddler, child, adolescent, adult, & older adult. Consistently demonstrates competence in performing Echocardiograms, carotid ultrasound and vascular ultrasound. Consistently demonstrates technical proficiency in producing diagnostic scans with the ability to recognize anatomical structures that are visualized. Ensures that an adequate clinical testing is available to correlate with the study to be done. Consults with referring physician to ensure appropriate utilization of services. Regularly performs general office duties, scheduling patients and maintains necessary records and completes monthly reports as needed. Continuously seeks out training for advancing clinical operations and preparation of required reports. Analyzes and recommends to Cardiovascular department director needs and trends for staffing, procedures, equipment and training. Regularly checks equipment, accessories, and supplies, keeps area stocked at all times, cleans and disinfects equipment regularly. Maintains order and cleanliness. Promptly notifies supervisor of equipment malfunctions. Knows general condition of all equipment at all times. Demonstrates an ability to operate all required equipment in the course of performing procedures, including preventative maintenance, trouble-shooting and minor repairs. Demonstrates an ability to participate in the department and hospital procedure for emergency situations. Demonstrates a complete understanding of hospital fire and safety procedures and personal role in disaster plan. Participates in economical utilization of hospital resources. Continually assists in revision and updating of the departmental policies and procedures and reviews all written procedures yearly. Complies with applicable employee health/infection control standards. Adjusts schedule as necessary to and responds immediately to stat requests. Schedules tests to coordinate with other examinations a patient may have on a given day. Attempts to understand the needs of the patient and responds accordingly, reassures patients and consistently tries to obtain cooperation while reducing anxiety. Knowledgeable in all aspects of the day-to-day operation and organization of the department. Thoroughly explains the procedure about to be performed in order to facilitate cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety. Demonstrates effectiveness in coordinating aspects of patient care involving other departments. Job Requirements: Minimum Education Graduate from an Ultrasound program. Certification through ARDMS or Registered or registry-eligible in echocardiogram and vascular ultrasound. BLS certification. Minimum Work Experience At least 1 year experience in echo and non-invasive vascular testing preferred.
