Job Title: Interrelated (Grades 6-8)
Purpose: The Interrelated Resource Teacher is to create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each pupil's ability, to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Responsible to: Building Principal, RCSSC Director
Supervises: Classified personnel as assigned by the administration
Qualifications:
1. Kansas State Teaching Certificate/Licenses in assigned area (s) of instruction.
2. Highly qualified as defined in the No Child Left Behind Legislation.
3. Ability to convey information to students in a variety of methods to induce learning.
4. Ability to use technology as an instructional tool.
5. Ability to use appropriate classroom management skills that insure a positive learning
environment.
6. Keep active in understanding the current trends in the discipline.
Essential Functions:
1. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
2. Ability to effectively manage the classroom.
3. Ability to perform assigned tasks.
4. Ability to establish goals and objectives.
5. Ability to design effective strategies to achieve goals.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
1. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions.
2. Requires stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, and reaching.

3. Ability to move equipment within the building as required.
4. Requires prolonged sitting and standing; and use of equipment causing eye fatigue.
General responsibilities:
1. Teaches subject matter to students not enrolled in mainstreaming classes. (example
English).
2. Provides students with tutoring for mainstream classes.
3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the pupil.
4. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
5. Establishes and maintains standards of individual student behavior.
6. Works closely with other teachers to help the students maintain satisfactory class work homework and behavior.
7. Evaluates pupil's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
8. Evaluates each student in terms of needs and progress toward remediation.
9. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
10. Prepares progress reports and year-end evaluations, administering pretests and post tests as appropriate and necessary.
11. Participates in staffings about educationally handicapped students.
12. Participates in selection and evaluation of students for admission to the special education program.
13. Is responsible for students' Individual Education Plan development and implementation.
14. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
15. Performs basic attendance accounting and similar record keeping functions.
16. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
17. Fulfills other assignments given by supervisors.
18. Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
19. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.

20. Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
21. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field by reading journals and publications, attending professional society meetings, seminars, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
22. Provide community education as a resource speaker as requested.
23. Provide on site training for newly hired paraeducators.
24. Willingness and flexibility to adopt new teaching strategies into their classroom.
25. Prepare students for local, state, and national summative assessments.
Term of Employment: As per negotiated teacher agreement
Payment Rate: According to Certified Salary Schedule
Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy of Certified Personnel.
