As the District Vice President (DVP), you will be responsible for leading and driving the transformational change within the Alberta Central District. Your primary focus will be on retail and small business branch teams, where you will provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to ensure high-quality sales activities, deepen customer relationships, and foster engagement and accountability across the branch network. Your leadership will be instrumental in achieving our financial and non-financial goals, enhancing customer service, optimizing human resource management, and improving operational effectiveness.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
Lead and manage a team of Branch Managers, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in meeting branch objectives.
Develop tactical strategies that align with the overall direction of the Region and the Bank, driving the achievement of business objectives.
Implement and monitor stretch goals for line management, fostering a high-performance culture within the District.
Maintain a strong market profile within the District, cultivating relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Drive a customer-focused, performance-driven culture within your team, leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to deepen client relationships and drive profitable growth.
Coach and manage Branch Managers to achieve financial and non-financial goals, conducting regular coaching sessions, skill-building sessions, and sales meetings.
Implement tactical strategies to support the overall strategy of the Region and Retail Bank, leveraging market trends, competitive intelligence, and input from various sources.
Act as a point of escalation to resolve issues, negotiate compromises, and build stronger relationships with partners from other Scotiabank Groups.
Contribute to the overall Net Promoter Score (NPS) by identifying opportunities to enhance the customer experience and collaborating effectively with branch partners.
Lead planning and reporting activities within the district, setting goals, providing coaching, and identifying trends for improvement.
Ensure effective operations and adherence to business controls, managing risks in line with the Bank's policies and frameworks.
Create a high-performance environment and develop a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team, fostering an inclusive work environment.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
Thorough knowledge of Canada's financial services marketplace, including market areas, customer segments, and competitive positioning.
Expert knowledge of sales management techniques, with a proven ability to influence and motivate others.
Successful track record in managing teams and achieving exceptional results.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate views effectively across all levels of the organization.
University degree or equivalent work experience, preferably with a focus on business.
PFP designation or Bank recognized equivalent. Alternatively, a sound knowledge of financial planning concepts.
7-10 years of experience in sales and relationship-driven roles, preferably in the financial or investment sector.
Expert coaching ability, with the capacity to observe behaviors and engage in challenging conversations.
Expert knowledge of sales leadership techniques, enabling branches to reach their full potential and meet goals.
Strong relationship building skills, with the ability to motivate and influence outcomes, actions, and decisions.
Thorough knowledge of Retail and Small Business products and services, including relevant systems and processes.
Familiarity with sales management platforms and standard office software.
Working knowledge of products and services offered by other financial institutions and niche competitors.
