St. Mary Cathedral School in Gaylord is accepting applications to fill a teaching position in Math. Duties and requirements:
- Provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth toward a successful future.
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Models the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and the Diocese.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Plans for instruction with logically sequenced objectives, based on adopted curriculum and submitted according to the local school policy.
- Provides appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
- Maintains current and accurate records inline with school policy.
- Communicates openly and in a timely manner regarding academic, behavioral, and/or safety concerns with parents routinely.
- Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese/administration.
- Attends staff meetings as requested.
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor and work habits.
- Willingness to respond to an individuals learning needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Math.
- Must have State of Michigan Education Certificate or actively enrolled in certificate program.
- Ability to assess, plan, and implement instruction.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to connect with students and engage them in learning.
- Must be able to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger.
- Ability to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.
- Must abide by the teachings and doctrinal practices of the Catholic Church and support the mission of the sponsoring parish.
This position may require:
- Periods of Standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive hand movements on a daily basis.
- Lift and/or carry approximately 20 pounds.
