JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
CNS is searching for one Drafter III to assist and support operations and practices. The Drafter III will utilize the latest version of AutoCAD software and Drawing Information Systems (DIS) to plan and design while adhering to the company standards manual.
Essential Functions
- Drafting will be predominantly Computer-Aided-Drafting (CAD) but some manual "board".
- Facilitate manual "board" drafting request through Head Quarters Drafting and Central Files.
- Draft electronically using computer-aided engineering (CAE) techniques per requests.
- Draft both new drawings and revisions to existing drawings from rough sketch, marked print, or electronic copy.
- Provide checking and analyzing of details, dimensions, and completeness of drawings to be drafted.
- Complete assignments in accordance with priority and due dates assigned by task managers.
- Conform to company standards.
- Use the latest version of AutoCAD drafting software, Auto LISP-based drafting enhancement software, and symbols/LISP/template directory.
- Use the standards manuals.
- Use the standard engineering drawing sizes A, B, C and D as applicable.
- All drawings prepared or revised by the Contractor shall be checked by the Contractor to ensure that the drawings or revisions made are correct in reference to all established standards and in accordance with the data provided.
- Control and Tracking of Drawings in the Drafting System.
- Utilize Drawing Information System (DIS) for requesting and maintaining revision levels.
- Track work requests and the status of drafting projects using an appropriate tracking system throughout the process from requestor submittal to final archival.
- Track electronic and physical location of all drawings in the drafting process.
- Coordinate filing, storage, and retrieval of both manual and electronic drawings locally and through HQ.
- Archive completed drawings.
- CAD and CAE System Operation and Administration.
- Operates and supports AutoCAD.
- Maintain the RMR electronic drawing library.
- Maintain, support, and operate associated plotters and printers including software and drivers.
- Maintain, support, and manage disc space management and file transfers on local and remote servers.
- Support limited testing of new drafting products - software and hardware.
- Attend Joint Area Computer Aided Engineering System Support (JACAESS) committee meetings when required.
- Clerical and Coordination Tasks.
- Maintain complete records on the status of all incoming and outgoing work and the location of all drawings.
- Prepare and record project requests and documentation and archival transmittal letters with Head Quarters Drafting and Central Files.
- Perform drawing research.
- Work and coordinate with foreign utilities on shared facilities.
- Reserve drawing numbers and revision blocks in DIS.
- Ensure that a reasonable stock of necessary supplies is maintained to support continuity of work.
- Coordinate and carry out drawing distribution.
- Make copies and operate reproduction equipment as needed.
- Additional Drafting Tasks.
- Assist personnel in the research of data and document gathering associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of facilities.
- Provide photographic records of facilities upon request.
- Convert, maintain, and update the "Facility Reference Information System" (FRIS).
Required Education/Experience
- Associates Degree
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
