What you'll do:
- Build integrated processes among internal functions such as operations, purchasing and logistics and outside suppliers
- Focus resources on continuous improvement of the movement of materials through various production processes and establishes key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning/forecasting to measure actual performance against goals on a regular basis
- Promote alignment by understanding and communicating customer needs and requirements throughout the maintenance repair shop
- Determine car requirements and coordinate the efficient movement of production and engineering
- Coordinate information and activities with other team members
- May coordinate or exchange information with third parties, vendors, or customers
- Lead technical and mechanical reviews with Operations, Safety, Welding, Quality to analyze and develop optimal process instructions
- Develop and conduct reports, manage meetings, and support the railcar maintenance
- Collaborate with Lean and Continuous Improvement teams at plants during Kaizen events or Value Stream mapping activities
- Collect, compile, and present railcar maintenance progress and status report on a daily basis, or as requested
- Required to provide support during peak fulfillment periods to meet corporate financial targets
- Responsible for ensuring inventory & material controls are in place and executed per the plan
- Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with one year experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- 9 years of manufacturing experience without degree
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with many levels within the organization
