Job Title: Technical Engineer, Plastic Injection
Pay: $75,000 - $100,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Lebanon, KY
Shift: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (overtime as needed)
Position Summary
The Technical Engineer, Injection, provides technical expertise focused on new and existing product development, process optimization, and production activities. This role includes oversight of project schedules, equipment specifications, and compliance with key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Develop and manage the master engineering schedule for all projects, coordinating and supervising to meet objectives.
- Equipment/Tooling Oversight: Write specifications, oversee design and construction, and manage installation, start-up, and trials of new equipment and tooling.
- Documentation & Capital Investments: Prepare required documentation for capital investments and secure management approval.
- Manufacturing Process Development: Establish processes that meet targets for cost, scrap reduction, performance, delivery, cycle time, efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Process Documentation: Create and maintain specifications, PFMEAs, risk analyses, process plans, work instructions, capacity tracking, and other relevant documentation.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead Kaizen activities post-implementation to optimize processes and reduce defects.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct problem-solving and root cause analysis to address issues and implement corrective actions.
- EOAT and Fixtures: Specify or fabricate EOAT, fixtures, and equipment used in injection molding or assembly.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of thermoplastic resin properties, injection molding equipment, and resin processing capabilities.
- Project Management & Leadership: Demonstrated skills in managing schedules, leading teams, and ensuring project goals are met.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create technical documents and presentations.
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in advanced math, including calculus and trigonometry, to perform calculations and data analysis.
- Software Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, Project) and drafting software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Problem-Solving Ability: Skilled in data collection, root cause analysis, and solution implementation.
- Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with Toyota Production System, lean manufacturing concepts, TS, and ISO requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle equipment and tools.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and lift/move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, occasional high or precarious places, and moderate noise levels.
- Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions and extreme heat.
Additional Information
- Expected Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with potential overtime as needed.
