We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dedicated healthcare team in the Emergency Department of our rural hospital. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in emergency medicine and be able to provide high-quality, patient-centered care, work life balance in a rural healthcare setting. This role requires the ability to work independently, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and respond to a wide range of acute medical conditions.

Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Triage:
- Conduct thorough initial assessments of patients presenting to the emergency department.
- Determine the severity of each patient's condition and prioritize treatment accordingly.
- Initiate appropriate diagnostic tests and interventions based on the patient's clinical presentation.
- Medical Treatment:
- Administer and prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- Perform procedures such as wound care, suturing, splinting, and other minor surgical interventions.
- Manage acute and critical conditions, including trauma, cardiac events, respiratory distress, and more.
- Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the emergency department team, including physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other support staff.
- Consult with specialists and arrange for the transfer of patients requiring advanced care to larger facilities if necessary.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records, documenting patient assessments, treatments, and responses to interventions.
- Complete required documentation for billing and legal purposes in a timely manner.
- Patient Education:
- Provide patients and their families with information about their conditions, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
- Promote health and safety education to prevent future emergencies in the rural community.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Assist in disaster planning and response, including participating in drills and training exercises.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of emergency protocols for the rural area.
- Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of emergency care services in the rural hospital.
- Compliance:
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintain current licensure and certifications, including ACLS, PALS, and others as required.
Qualifications:
- Current NY state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant.
- Previous experience in an emergency department setting is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rural healthcare environment.
- Willingness to be on-call and work variable shifts as needed.
- Dedication to providing high-quality patient care in a rural setting.
