Your keen eye for detail and dedication to safety will position you as an essential advocate for responsible driving within our community. In this position, you will conduct comprehensive and effective driving assessments for individuals pursuing their driver's licenses, particularly for those seeking commercial licenses. Your knowledge will guarantee that applicants possess the essential skills and qualifications to operate commercial vehicles safely. You will conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections prior to administering driving tests, ensuring that motor vehicles possess valid inspection stickers, functional lights, windshield wipers, and other essential mechanical features for safety and applicant familiarity with controls. You will review applications, registrations, and permits for potential discrepancies and fraudulent activity. Additionally, you will administer both CDL and Non-CDL knowledge examinations to evaluate applicants' understanding of the motor vehicle code and traffic signs. At the request of the Driver License Division Management Team, you will audit third party examiners for compliance with contracts, either by having them conduct a CDL skills test for a Department Examiner or by jointly scoring a test with them. You will also administer vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception assessments, while strictly following all elements of the Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Service Policy.
