Glenbow Elementary School is located in the Town of Cochrane and serves French Immersion and English students from grades K-4. For more information regarding this school, please visit their website at The Learning Commons Facilitator (LCF) facilitates traditional and digital resources for students and staff, in an inclusive, learner-centered environment that encourages collaboration, independent inquiry, creativity, and positive engagement. The LCF will enable access to relevant materials in multiple formats, supply program and technology support, deliver research assistance, and promote multiple literacies, in alignment with school goals and Rocky View Schools’ (RVS) Education Plan. The incumbent is to provide expertise in records management strategy and protocol. This position is open to those support staff who are on a continuing assignment. Responsibilities Promote multiple-literacies through instruction with a variety of resources in a Learning Commons (LC) environment (i.e., digital information workshops, CORE, online collections, displays and community resources Plans, schedules, coordinates, oversees and provides Learning Commons services Oversees students in the Learning Commons, in conjunction with teaching staff Circulates Learning Commons material Familiarizes staff and students to the structure of the Learning Commons and its functions Responds to reference questions Orders and processes Learning Commons materials and Conducts an annual inventory of Learning Commons materials Coordinates inter-Learning Commons loans and audio-visual bookings Monitors and coordinators volunteers to support the learning commons Prepares Learning Commons displays Attends Division sponsored in-service sessions Promotes multiple literacies and recommends instructional materials to support curricula and assist teachers in the evaluation, selection, and use of materials Coordinates the selection, ordering, circulation, and inventory of Learning Commons/media materials in order to develop a Learning Commons collection that supports the school’s curriculum and content standards Designs an accessible, efficient, and inviting Learning Commons space for student learning Manages the online Learning Commons database including all functions related to cataloguing, circulation, patrons, reporting, and local administration Provides support in the use of emerging technology in learning and critical thinking Develops and maintains the school’s Learning Commons webpage in accordance with RVS site policies In consultation with school administration, manages the Learning Commons budget Manages/hosts book sales, and other literary events Education/Experience Diploma or degree in Library Information Technology program or related field Minimum 1-year related experience working in a Learning Commons or resource centre Previous experience working in a school division environment is considered an asset An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered Knowledge and Skills: Proficient knowledge of Learning Commons practices and skills with the ability to incorporate technology into performance and procedures Familiarity with audio-visual equipment, computer technology and applications used in Learning Commons environments Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with students, staff and families, Strong verbal and written communication skills Possesses strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications Pre-Employment Requirements In order to be selected as a candidate for an interview, candidates must submit proof of qualifications/education as required by the position The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment Rocky View Schools Benefits 6% vacation pay Benefits Plan (Extended health, Dental, Wellness/Health Care Spending Account, Tax Free Savings Account and Registered Retirement Savings Plan) Professional development and training opportunities Free parking Open to: Internal and external applicants Salary: $25.67 - $31.16 hourly rate How to Apply We request all applications be placed through must include your cover letter, resume and contact information of three professional references.
