About this opportunity:
Cenovus is seeking a Maintenance Technician, Pipefitter to join its organization. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of various systems and equipment. The successful candidate will collaborate with multiple teams, be responsible for contractors, and support continuous improvement initiatives. They will also stay informed about industry trends and advancements, contributing to various operational processes and ensuring compliance with safety and efficiency standards. This position offers an opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and optimizing crucial operations.
This posting will be used to fill vacancies at all three Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Foster Creek and Sunrise) .
Work Environment:
Foster Creek & Christina Lake
This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12 hrs/day and 6 hrs on the first and last day; 8 days on 6 days off; 42 hrs/week; Wednesday start; 2 week cycle
Foster Creek and Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities
Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations
Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton
Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB
Sunrise
This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12 hrs/day and 6 hrs on the first and last day; 8 days on 6 days off; 42 hrs/week; Wednesday start; 2 week cycle
Sunrise is located approximately 100 km northeast of the City of Fort McMurray and is a fly in/ fly out remote camp-based position.
Cenovus will provide transportation to Sunrise from designated hubs out of Calgary and Edmonton
At the Sunrise site, employees will be provided comfortable camp accommodations and recreational amenities
What you’ll do:
Implement safe work practices that follow EH&S guidelines and Cenovus internal practices and expectations
Find opportunities to improve runtime, minimize downtime, and optimize processes
Perform corrective/preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on pumps, compressors, fans, motors, and gearboxes
Collect oil samples and maintain detailed documentation
Provide troubleshooting expertise and work with Operations staff
Manage third-party contractors as required
Continuously improve maintenance critical metrics and stay current with technological advances
Support work order processes and provide input on equipment and spare parts inventory requirements
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Minimum Grade 12 Diploma
5 years Journeyman Pipefitting trade - Red Seal designation
Dual ticket certification for Millwright and Pipefitter would be considered an asset
Proficiency in CMMS software (i.e. Maximo/SAP)
First Aid, TDG, WHMIS and H2S Alive certifications are required
We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
