Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: 12/26/2024 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel DT-Trak is a national medical staffing company that works with federal, state, and commercial hospital systems. Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients in the emergency room. Triages each patient and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological and social needs as well as factors influencing patient flow through the emergency care system. Performs focused assessment of chief complaints of each patient in a timely manner according to established triage guidelines. An emergency nurse must have the ability to make quick and accurate assessments about incoming patients, including both physical and mental health conditions. Provides safe and effective nursing care to the emergency room patient and/or outpatient. Provide direct patient care including but not limited to medication administration, transferring patients and assisting with activities of daily living, wound management, line/tube/drain management, performing and assisting with procedures, and ensuring patient safety. Provides or assists with the initiation and maintenance of accurate concise records. Communicates in a timely fashion, any pertinent assessment findings to the Providers. Carries out provider orders. Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Administer medications while following the Five Medication Rights to help reduce the potential for med errors. Scans medications per protocol except in emergency situations. Interact with patients, families, co-workers and Providers with respect, dignity and empathy. Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families or care takers. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served. Document patient care according to standards and policies. Follow hospital policy when disposing of biohazardous materials, labeling, and handling all materials.
